Ok here we go finally. Starting the Egypt Journal.
04/02/2010 - Sydney Airport
At the airport now, at an ungodly hour of course. Salo and i had the great idea of staying up all night and sleeping on the plane. Could help with the jet lag? Guess we will find out in a few hours! Then again i cant remember ever having good night sleep on a plane, but this time will be different.
Its weird to see the airport this empty, wasnt sure if the duty free store was even open or not, spent awhile looking at $5000 sctoch thinking "when im richer" (were still in sydney at this point, the egypt starts abit later).
Everyone else here looks super tired and like we all know sleepy = grumpy. Already saw more then once person jumping up and down because customs has to go through their bags, all i have to say is sucked in.
This is salo's first time out of the country... haha reading back i dont really want to post this paragrpah on the interwebs.. its grubby.
Lost track of dad and casey as well, they are in a shop somewhere, i think dad is buying casey a camcorder, which is a big jump from the watch she was originally looking at. Anyway we are going to head over to the gate now and hang out until the flight takes off, ill write about the flight when we land in dubai. Hope its daylight so i can see the area as we fly in, always wanted to see dubai, ever since they did it up anyway!
Dubai International
Well there was daylight over dubai, but also a god damn sand storm, couldnt see a damn thing, curse you desert, you beat me again! If there was anything awesome to look at on the descent, we missed it :( Also the cross wind was pretty epic, pretty bumpy landing, but we survived so 10 points to the pilot.
The flight itself was fine, alot more comfortable then the flight to America, roomier seats, entertainment system was better and the best part… an empty seat between salo and myself! If that isn’t a sweet deal I don’t know what is. Even managed to get some sleep, so good day.
Anyway were all still pretty tired and my lovely sister hasn’t had a smoke in like 15 hours so she is slightly aggravated. Adding to that, the fact we don’t know where you can smoke in this crazy place means she was not a happy camper. The terminal was huge and we were wandering around for awhile till salo and I gave up and just went to the gate, separating in a different country, what could go wrong right?
On the way to the gate we stopped in some stores and saw some $60k phones and some strange dubai candies. Wasn’t long till we were waiting at the gate for dad and casey.. but yeah, when we got there it was already on its final call and dad and casey are no where to be seen… awesome! Eventually dad rocks up and casey is still not there. God dammit, hope you like dubai sis coz were leaving you!
Just kidding she shows up eventually and we make it on the flight.. which was 40 minutes delayed anyway. On the flight we sat next to this poor girl that was a horrible flyer, sitting near salo and I probably didn’t help, we arnt the most understanding bunch haha, but yeah 4 hours til Egypt!
Finally in Egypt-
After 24ish hours of travelling and several time zones later were finally at Cairo international airport. This airport is not anywhere near as impressive as dubai international.. it kind of reminds me of central station in Sydney, or the underground parts of town hall. So yeah, great first impressions. We weren’t sure where to get visas here so we lined up at the customs part and got sent back to the bank to get some, they laughed at us for being silly tourists.. who goes to a bank for a visa, crazy people. Anyway $15 american later were allowed into the country!
Rest of the airport wasn’t really worth mentioning, it was dark and pretty cold, we met up with a driver and we ended up at the hotel shortly after. Casey salo and I went wandering for snacks and the streets were pretty packed, no clue what was going on, if it was just another night in the city or if something special was going on but yeah, we found snacks and exchanged some money so we finally have some local currency. Now im falling asleep as I write this, so time for a nice long sleep!

To those who matter most :)
To my amazing sister...
We all face it sometime in our lives,
some are unfortunate enough to experience it more then others.
But to everyone with a broken heart and a crushed spirit, don't lose faith,
Light always shines brightest in the dark, so no matter how dark your tunnel is, light with always radiate over you again!
Until then, rely on your friends and family to guide you through, its why were here.
To my incredible friends...
None of us are good at showing emotions, but i sometimes think its because we don't need to.
Understanding your closest friends on a level beyond conventional communication is what turns a friend into family, and that's what you all are!
While we dont really see each other as much as we should, you are all my comrades, my brothers (and some sisters!) I hope the world is treating you well and cant wait till the next time we can all be together again!
Finally, to that special lady..
Even if we haven't spoken much the last few days, i feel closer to you now then ever before.
Knowing what i want has given a new, clearer perspective on life.
I know what i want, i can almost touch the future infront of me, just need to wait for all the details to fall into place.
Your an amazing friend and a kind, caring person. You call me out on my faults and push me to greater heights. I can never thank you enough for all you've given me.. but ill try to.. every chance i get!

Now to the future, ill see you soon :)
You and i are going to work.
Through good times and bad.
The ups, the downs, even the lefts and the rights.
Why will it work?
There is no way it wont!
Life is shared, perfectly intertwined, your the push to my pull, the reaction to my action.
And i wouldnt have it any other way!
So here's to the future!
To the chapters yet to be written!
My book starts now.. and its dedicated to you.
And like most good stories, mine starts with a girl.. that lives in a land far away...

You....
Your not are not just your name.
Your not just a face in the crowd, a passing thought or a fond memory.
Your not the fears, failures or past tragedies that gave you shape.
You are hope, hope for a better tomorrow, hope that you can be better.
You are the power to change, the ability to grow and create.
"You are a spirit, that will never die and no matter how beaten down... you will rise again"
Part of me died today, and its for the best.
Its time to grow, to truly become the person i want.. i need to be.
This post is a memorial to that part of me, gone forever, not missed, but never forgotten.

Blog #04
Big one today, mainly because ive missed afew days. Ok where to begin.
Got the new job i was after, now i offically have two jobs! Handle bar tavern work horse *aka slave* and IT support operator for costco, in north ryde, for all the people that feel the need to stalk me at work. Its a nice area, you might be able to convince me to have lunch with you.
Sleeping pattern is ruined, spent the last 3 or 4 nights, staying up til 5am watching anime and harrasing random americans, which is a great past time these days :) in a bid to shock my system back to normal, ive had 4 hours of sleep.. currently 8:45pm and im exhausted! Got to make it til at least 10. So i apologise to the people that tried to talk to me but i either brushed them off or seemed entirely uninterested by your conversation, i was probably wondering how my bed was doing, and if it missed me.
Spent way to much money on new clothes so i look pretty for my first day at work, around $350, granted about $150 of that was a new game and renewing my xbox live membership. But i consider those essentials, like food. Yes im a huge nerd, whatever.
Also because ive got a new job and no longer need to be nice to everyone in the handle bar in fears i might lose my job.. ive noticed i stoped caring about people and their petty problems. Whats wrong? your poker machine doesnt work? thats probably a good thing for you... Your steak isnt cooked right? Well thats between you and the steak, i think it looks fine. You help pay for my salary? not fo rmuch longer buddy. I dont actually say them, but yeah, i really dont care about their problems anymore, not a great work ethic, but i think they have drained my soul enough over the last 2 years.
Anzac day wasnt too bad, i didnt wear any medals *im sure we have some of pops around somewhere*, forgot to wear the little plant thing, didnt wake up in time for the minute silence, didnt have a drink for the fallen >< sorry guys, ill make it up to you next year. I also wouldve appreciated if the handle bar did two-up, its the one day in the year we can do it, so we should jump on that band wagon, its a barrel 'o' laughs, or it was at the rsl i was at afew years ago...
Continuing to notice, people in the game industry *eb games and game* are some of the nicest people in the world.. well, some are, some just talk and talk and talk, i remember when i bought smash bros in game, the guy wouldnt shut up about sonic -.- good greif. But yes, to all the people in the gaming industry, thanks for being nice people!
Side note, its very peaceful in the velodrome at night, when its empty, lieing on the race track =) Something for you guys to consider if you ever decide you want to break into the velodrome.
Anyway ill write another post tomorrow with all the fun details about what happened at costco, i i remember to anyway, have to work at the handle bar right after costco, so i might be sleepy.

Blog #03
Was meant to get a call from Costco today to say whether i got a job there or not.. didnt get a call.. not impressed!
Anyway, blog number 3, unforuntately i dont really want to blog about how i sat at home and studied and did abit of exercise for 2 days. Doesnt paint a very interesting image of my life. Still alot better then the stress of university and working all the time, so im pretty content =D
So the last few days have just been spent talking to new random people from chatango, a sweed that thinks her english is better then mine, which i thought was funny. Someone else who corrected my grammar and spelling in every sentance which apparently drives me crazy.
Worked tonight, with John, that kid always makes me laugh, he has such a careless disregard for what other people think about what he says. Afew memorable quotes from tonight were:
Evan: I hate when peopel mess with the til, Luke kept doing that on saturday.
John: Yeah, well Luke is a junkie.
*side note* Luke isnt really a junkie, he is a big hairy Giant, like a wookie :) just greek. Or something similar, sorry if i got it wrong buddy.
Jade: hey evan..
*looks at her*
John: hey evan!
Jade: no fair, i was talking first
John: i dont care, boys take preference.
Evan: So what did you order for dinner?
John: Just a chicken burger, i dont know, the bistro here is pretty shit
That doesnt sound very funny, but when the head chef is standing next to him and gives him dirties for the rest of the night, i thought it was pretty funny :P
Thats all i can really think of right now, everytime i work with him, its like a gold mine of one liners and humor at the expense of everyone around him, its amazing.
I guess thats all for now, not mch else i can think of worth putting in here. Toodles

Blog #02
Wow, made it to two posts. Thats almost the record =)
Anyway woke up at 9:45am, thought, i really should have that shower. But i opted for the extra hour of sleep, sorry to all my workmates who had to deal with smelly evan, until he got to the secret stash of deoderant.
Work was boring. Dealt with poker people today, which was annoying to add them ontop of the punters, so there was about 18 million people, who have huge egos and want us to basically kiss their arse and thank them for the opportunity (i know if any punters that read this will get agro, but its true, in most cases).
The only memoreable thing that happened was a conversation jade and i had with bluie
Bluie- Hot danish is the favourite! Put money on Hot danish!
Evan- Hot danish!!
Jade- Hot danish!!
B-Hot danish!!
E- Makes me want one
J- one what? a danish person?
E- No the pastry..
B- oh i know those things, what are they called...?
E- A danish?
B- no, no its a fruit something
J- Appricot Danish?
B- Thats it.. a danish!
E- Uh... ok bluie
J- Hot danish!!
E- Hot danish!
B- Hot danish!
Hot danish was a horse one of the big races that was on today. It didnt win.. it didnt even place. Poor Bluie
That was probably the highlight. That and hearing the story about, how Nick, couldnt be bothered driving the extra 2km to his house, so he pulled over and went to sleep in his car. Your a special boy Nick, dont let anyone tell you otherwise =)
